Non-destructive analysis
In Parola e Luraghi S.r.l, it is possible to perform:
– Ultrasonic controls
– Liquid penetrant testing
– Hardness testing
The Parola e Luraghi S.r.l foundry manages the environmental aspects of its activity in accordance with the legal requirements and regulations defined by the technical documentation identifying the “Best Techniques Available”, in order to limit the impact on the different environmental compartments.
Parola e Luraghi S.r.l pays great attention to staff training regarding both safety and technical areas for the studying of the best casting system and any defects in its products.
Radiometric control
INSTRUMENTATION USED FOR RADIOMETRIC CONTROL AND PERIODICITY OF CONTROLS
UPSTREAM MEASURING INSTRUMENT OF THE MELTING PROCESS
The equipment for radiometric surveillance at the entrance of the plant consists of a portable detector marketed by TEMA S.p.A., with digital reading equipped with an external scintillation probe that allows X-ray and gamma radiation to be measured under the UNI 10897 standard.

Technical features in brief:
|
The instrument is regularly subjected to different types of "Verification of proper functioning".
The Radiation Protection Expert (hereinafter referred to as "EdR") is responsible for determining the "acceptability interval".
For the verification of proper functioning, the company uses a sealed test source of Cs-137 (series no. 426) marketed by Georadis with an activity of 9.5 kBq (February 2019), purchased in exemption with reference to Legislative Decree 101/2020.
DOWNSTREAM MEASURING INSTRUMENT OF THE FUSION PROCESS
For the checks to be carried out on the test specimens, slags and smoke abatement dust downstream of the casting phases, the company uses a gamma spectrometer from Berthold that allows the qualitative and quantitative determination of the gamma-emitting radionuclides present.
Technical features
– Spectrometer detector: All-in-One type that includes a NaI(Tl) Ø63x63mm scintillation crystal, a photomultiplier tube and a built-in electronic spectrometry unit that includes a preamplifier, a multichannel analyser (MCA) and a high-voltage power supply unit.
The spectrometer is fully powered by a laptop/desktop via USB port that also allows to transfer data from the management software
– Shielding: lead top load well, 5 cm thick.
– Management software: GammaPro
– Energy range: from 40 keV to 3 MeV
– Energy resolution (FWHM@662 keV): 7.5 %
